A permanent hair reduction solution that is fast and safe

Laser Hair Removal

Hair grows in a cycle of three stages: anagen (growth), catagen (transitional), and telogen (resting). Venus Velocity™ uses laser technology to target the hair follicle in the anagen phase, which is when the hair responds best to the treatment.
About 30% of hair is in this phase at any given time, which is why you need multiple treatments to see results. Venus Velocity™ works by delivering energy to the hair follicle, where it’s absorbed by the hair pigment.
This destroys the follicle so that the hair cannot grow anymore, resulting in permanent hair reduction.
Minimum of Six sessions recommended, results vary depending on skin and hair type. Multiple courses may be required.

Why Venus Velocity™ Laser Hair Removal is so popular

Laser hair removal is one of our most in-demand treatments, for some of our clients with health conditions and excess hair growth, the confidence given with this treatment is life-changing. For others the removal of hair offers a clean, hygienic solution.

This method can be used nearly anywhere on the face and body, the hair will become a lot finer and softer meaning it will be less visible and the growth will slow down more and more each treatment.

Multiple treatments are required to achieve permanent hair reduction, this is due to the increased effect of the laser on the hair in the early growth stage. We will always encourage multiple sessions to see the benefits.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

Venus Velocity™, with the proven efficacy of diode laser technology and a real-time cooling system, provides the optimal balance between high energy absorption of melanin chromophores and deep penetration into the skin, making it safe and effective for all skin types, including tanned skin.

Hair grows in a cycle of three stages. Venus Velocity™ uses laser technology to target the hair follicle in the first stage (anagen), which is when the hair responds best to the treatment. About 10-30% of hair is in this phase at any given time, which is why you need multiple treatments to see results.
Venus Velocity™ works by delivering energy to the hair follicle, where it’s absorbed by the hair pigment. This destroys the follicle so that the hair cannot grow anymore. The result is permanent reduction of unwanted hair.

Venus Velocity™ is FDA approved and has CE Mark for treatment of hirsutism (hair removal), permanent hair reduction (defined as the long-term stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing)

What are the benefits?

  • - Reduces hair, permanently
  • - No more ingrown hairs
  • - Saves time and money
  • - Improve skin tone and texture
  • - Can be used all all skin types
  • - No more waxing or shaving!

Traditional methods for hair removal included plucking, shaving, waxing, electrolysis and chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy, all of them are time consuming and costly. Venus Velocity™ is a permanent hair reduction solution based on clinically proven diode laser technology. Venus Velocity™ is comfortable and effective.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend six sessions and sell all of our laser packages as a course of six, this is because we have found this to be a suitable amount of treatments to remove hair on most clients.
For a first time laser client you will most definitely require six to ten treatments, hair and skin type can play a part in how many you may require but not always.
Once you have completed your six sessions we will decide if another full or half course is required but this is not always needed.
During your consultation we will be honest in our expectations for you and your hair loss journey.

We are happy to arrange a course of 1-3  treatment sessions for anyone who has previously had laser hair removal.

What aftercare should I expect?

Swelling/Discomfort/Redness:
The most common side effects are erythema and edema (redness and swelling) which generally
occur immediately after treatment and typically resolve within 24-48 hours.
Some clients experience mild itching post treatment, this is common and lasts approximately 1-2 days.

Sun Exposure:
Always use a SPF  following your laser treatment, inform your therapist when you have a holiday booked so that they can ensure a treatment gap of 4 weeks after sun exposure and 2-4 weeks prior.

Sun beds:
We do not permit the use of sunbeds for the duration of your laser treatment and highly recommend you follow this advise, failure to do so can lead to pigmentation.

Other things to avoid:
Avoid hot baths, saunas, Jacuzzis and pools for the first two days following treatment.
Waxing, epilation and plucking is a no during the course of your treatment, we need that follicle intact.

How long will the results last and is it permanent?

It depends on how your hair grows. Some people will see longer-lasting hair reduction for many years, while others who see sporadic hair growth in the area may need a touch-up treatment to maintain the results.

Am I a good candidate for this treatment?

Laser hair removal is for individuals who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on their face or body through laser treatments because they’re tired of the conventional methods that only yield temporary results.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

  • Previous problems with laser therapy
  • A history of keloid scarring
  • Active infection or history of herpes simplex in the treatment area
  • Use of depilatories or other hair removal treatments, such as waxing, plucking, or electrolysis, within 6 weeks prior to treatment
  • Hypersensitivity to hydroquinone or other bleaching agents
  • Use of oral Accutane within 6 weeks prior to treatment

I have darker skin, can I still get this treatment?

Venus Velocity™ hair removal treatments can be done on darker skin tones, even tanned skin, but using different settings, as there is a higher risk of discoloration (since darker skin has more pigment in it). The technician will perform a test spot and wait between 15 minutes to 48 hours, depending on your skin tone, to assess your reaction to the laser. He/she would know best what treatment parameters are most appropriate to use for your skin type.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean and you have a shaved the area as smooth as possible. Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup (if you’re getting a treatment on your face) before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. Remove all jewellery around the area being treated.
Your therapist will ask about any tattoos or piercings and will also ask about your medical history, so it helps to have that information ready.

What does the treatment feel like?

Once the treatment starts, you’ll feel some heat in the area, but this will only last a short while, thanks to the real-time cooling system that kicks in right away to help minimize discomfort. If your technician is using PULSE mode, it will feel like a light snap of an elastic band against your skin. If they’re using SLIDE mode, it will feel like a series of light snaps as the technician glides the applicator continuously across the treatment area.
Most people find the treatment comfortable and manageable.

How will I feel after the treatment?

You may feel like you have a slight sunburn around the treatment area, but this should go away after 1-2 days at the very most. You can use a cool compress to cool the area if need be. You may also see some hairs fall out more easily in the days following your treatment—this is perfectly normal. Some patients may also experience what appears to be a rash accompanied by some mild itching. This is also normal—it’s just the skin’s response to the energy. The redness and itching will subside over a few days. Cool compresses or antibiotic ointment can help speed up the healing process.
