Laser Tattoo Removal FAQ

  • We chose a Lynton Laser for these reason and many more, including the amazing treatment outcomes and superior equipment quality, ensure safety for ourselves and you the client.
    What Lynton stand for:

    • Founded in 1994 by PhD Physicists working on the world’s first Q-Switched Tattoo removal system, and one of the first IPL systems

    • Solely focused on results – The first Lynton systems were initially a PhD project, so the only thing that mattered was clinical outcomes

    • Used, loved, and respected by the best in the business – loved and used by the NHS and some of the world’s top dermatologists

    • World leaders in technology to this day – leading the way with leaps in technology that’s head and shoulders above everyone else

    • Largest presence in the UK – the largest team of engineers, clinical trainers, and support staff in Britain.

    • Awarded Aesthetic Awards ‘Supplier Training of the Year 2023’

  • Q-Switched Lasers that generate a high powered beam of laser light in an extremely short pulse are the most suitable lasers for tattoo removal treatments. The very short pulse of high powered laser light is absorbed by the tattoo’s ink particles, breaking these down into smaller pieces, and enabling your natural immune defences to absorb the ink. Gradual fading of the tattoo occurs over a series of treatments.

  • Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a hot pin prick or the flick of an elastic band. Whilst this is mildly uncomfortable, most people tolerate treatment well. A skin cooling device will be utilised to reduce any discomfort.

  • This depends on several factors, including the density and colour of inks and the age of the tattoo. Amateur tattoos can be quick to remove, taking between 1 to 6 treatments. Professional tattoos vary considerably and some can take up to 15 treatments. Repeat treatments are spaced every 6-10 weeks.
You will need consultation and test patch of the area before we begin and at this appointment we can discuss how many treatments you may require.

  • The timeframe to see results varies from client to client and depends on the type of tattoo. Generally, a course of treatments is required for optimum results.
Your expert therapist will advise during your consultation.

  • Yes! The removal of permanent make-up on areas such as Eyebrows is quick and simple.

  • Pigmentation such as sunspots, age spots, and brown birthmarks can be targeted to create a more flawless, youthful and glowing appearance.

  • Short pulses of light are released and are readily absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions. The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells. This triggers the body’s natural healing process to stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.

  • The majority of colours are treatable. However green, rare pastel or pale colours such as yellow and white are extremely difficult to remove with ANY laser. This is due to the lack of target chromophores to absorb the laser light.

  • With our Lynton Studio, we can use laser light to destroy the fungus that causes fungal nail infections.
Light is absorbed by the water in the skin underneath and around the nail, creating heat. This heat helps to destroy the dermatophytes and eliminate the fungal infection. The laser applicator is placed on the nail and a short pulse of light is released. The entire nail bed and nail matrix is then treated in this way.

  •  The The Carbon Laser Facial also know as the "Charcoal facial" or "Hollywood facial" is an advanced laser skin treatment . It promotes a smooth, healthy and glowing complexion, loved by celebs including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Anniston and Angelina Jolie, hence the HOLLYWOOD name.

But it’s not just celebrities who love this treatment. A 2022 paper published in the journal Medicina found that Carbon peel laser facial is an effective and safe treatment for patients with acne and can help reduce inflammation and sebum build up, by removing dirt, oil and bacteria found within the acne skin.

A layer of liquid carbon will be applied to the face, this penetrates deep into the skin’s surface. Pulses of laser light blast the carbon particles away to create a more youthful, even complexion.
In addition, the laser energy stimulates the fibroblast cells, leading to increased production of new collagen and elastin, this improves the texture and appearance of the skin’s surface, evening out discolouration and shrinking pores, whilst reducing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.

The treatment is pain-free and very low-risk, with most people only displaying some very mild redness after treatment.
The treatment is suitable for most people, and whilst it won’t remove deep wrinkles, it will give the skin a collagen boost, reducing fine lines, shrinking pores and improving acne (it can also be used on backne!). Most people will notice an immediate brightness and radiancy to their skin post treatment.

  • Stage 1 – Carbon Application
We use a face mask comprised of activated charcoal and carbon powder, it contains hyaluronic acid to boost hydration and Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) to reduce inflammation and reduce acne. This is gently applied to your face to cover all the areas that are to be treated and looks similar to a mud mask.

    Stage 2 – Carbon/Laser Exposure
During the second stage of treatment the laser is passed over your skin, the energy from the laser is attracted to the carbon elements in the face mask – this destroys the carbon. But don’t worry, this is painless and physically clears your pores to remove any dirt or debris. During this stage the laser will also break down any pigmentation in your skin.

    Stage 3 – Stimulation & Exfoliation
We will then switch the laser to Q-switch mode, this allows us to gently exfoliate your skin. During this stage the excess carbon will be removed from your skin which can sometimes cause a slight tingling sensation. This ‘peeling’ process will unclog the pores and exfoliate the upper layers of your skin.

    Stage 4 – Collagen & Elastin Production
The fourth and final stage is made to ensure all of the carbon has been removed from your skin. This is done by progressively increasing the frequency of the laser until all of the carbon has been vaporised.

*We recommend a course if you are looking to treat acne or pigmentation
